Convert between MP4, WEBM, MKV, MOV and AVI, and scale the resolution down at the same time. ffmpeg runs inside your browser, so the file is never uploaded. Choosing a format also fixes the codec it can carry, which means you never end up with a file that will not open.

How to use

  1. Drop a video file in, or tap to choose one.
  2. Pick the format to convert to. MP4 is the one that opens everywhere.
  3. To shrink the file, lower the resolution as well.
  4. Press Convert and download once the progress bar finishes.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I pick?
MP4 unless you have a reason not to. It opens on virtually every device and program, and it encodes quickly. If the file is for the web and size matters, WEBM is smaller at the same quality but takes much longer to encode.
The converted file got bigger.
That happens when the source was already well compressed. Converting means re-encoding, which does not guarantee a smaller result. If size is the goal, lower the resolution or use the video compressor instead.
Why can I not choose the codec myself?
Because each container only accepts certain codecs. Putting H.264 inside WEBM simply fails. Making the invalid combinations unreachable means you never have to work out why a conversion errored.
Does it handle large files?
It does, but everything runs in browser memory, so bigger files take longer and strain the tab. Past 500MB you get a warning, and beyond that it is better to split the file or use a desktop program.

Conversion happens entirely in your browser and the file is never uploaded. Speed depends on your device, and the first run has to fetch the converter (about 32MB). Closing the tab mid-process loses the work.
