About this tool
Typing speed test measures characters per minute (CPM) as you retype a sentence shown on screen. Timing starts the moment you type the first character, and finishing the sentence exactly shows you the time taken and your speed.
How to use
- Type the sentence shown on screen exactly into the input box.
- Timing starts the instant you type the first character.
- Finishing the sentence without a single mistake reveals the result (CPM and time taken).
- Press "Next Sentence" for a new challenge, or "Other Sentence" to switch before finishing.
- Tap "Play with friends" to get an invite link โ whoever opens it gets the same sentence, so you can race on equal footing. Typing itself stays local to each screen, but the room shows everyone's best CPM, and setting a new record triggers a celebration for the whole room.
Frequently asked questions
- How is characters per minute (CPM) calculated?
- The number of characters typed is divided by the time taken in seconds, then multiplied by 60. To approximate how Korean is normally counted by jamo, each Korean character counts as 2.5 strokes, while Latin letters and digits count as 1.
- Do typos show up right away?
- Yes, a mistyped character is immediately underlined in red. However, the result is only calculated once the sentence matches exactly, so you have to fix typos and keep typing to finish.
- Why does accuracy always show 100%?
- The tool only marks a run complete once your text matches the sentence exactly, so every completed result shows 100% accuracy. Check the red markers on screen to see where you slipped up along the way.
- Is the sentence always the same?
- No. Pressing "Next Sentence" picks a random one from a pool of prepared sentences, so you practice with a different sentence each time.
- Can I race friends?
- Yes. Tap "Play with friends" to get an invite link โ whoever opens it gets the same sentence shared to their screen, so you race on the same text. What you actually type is not shown to each other; everyone types on their own screen. Instead, a best-CPM board appears in the room, and setting a new record shows a celebration to everyone in the room.
