About this tool

Team splitter takes a list of participants and a number of teams, then divides everyone randomly into evenly sized groups. Create a "play together" room and the list and result stay in sync in real time, so anyone invited sees the same teams on their own screen.

How to use

  1. Enter participant names separated by commas or line breaks.
  2. Pick how many teams to split into (2 to 6).
  3. Press "Split Teams" โ€” everyone is shuffled and then dealt out as evenly as possible.
  4. Not happy with it? Press "Reshuffle" for a new lineup, or share the result link.

Frequently asked questions

Do the teams end up with equal numbers?
Yes. After shuffling, people are dealt to teams one at a time in order, so even when the total does not divide evenly, no team ends up with more than one extra person than another.
If I open the same link again, do the teams change?
No, not unless someone presses "Reshuffle." Anyone who joins via the invite link sees the exact lineup you created.
If someone presses "Reshuffle," does everyone in the room see it?
Yes. In a "play together" room, whoever reshuffles, the new lineup reaches everyone's screen in real time.
Can I make sure specific people end up on the same team?
No, the split is fully random and cannot be steered. If you need a specific pairing, split your list into groups yourself beforehand instead.
