About this tool
Play along with the "Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!" count. You have three seconds after the count to tap, and missing it means you lose. On your own you face the computer; invite friends and everyone in the room plays each other.
How to use
- Press Start and the count begins.
- After Shoot, the hand buttons open for three seconds.
- Tap rock, scissors or paper within those three seconds. Miss it and you lose the round.
- Use Play together to invite friends: the count ends at the same moment for everyone and all hands are revealed at once.
- Wins, draws, losses and win rate build up below. Clear record resets them.
Frequently asked questions
- Why are the buttons locked during the count?
- Locking in early would turn it into something other than a contest of reflexes. Hands are only accepted in the three seconds after the count, and the server enforces that too, not just the screen.
- What happens if I miss the window?
- You lose that round. If nobody throws in time everyone loses, and if only one person makes it that person wins.
- Does the computer see my hand and pick to beat it?
- No. It picks one of the three at random with equal odds, and its hand is only decided after the deadline passes. Over many rounds your win rate settles near one third.
- When friends join, who is playing whom?
- Everyone in the room plays the same round against each other, and anyone who does not throw loses. If two different shapes appear, everyone who threw the winning shape wins; if all three appear or everyone throws the same, the round is a draw.
- Can I peek at what someone else threw?
- No. The server holds every hand until the deadline, then reveals them together. Until then you only see who has played, and nobody receives what they played.
- Where is my record stored?
- If you are signed out it stays in this browser only. If you sign in it is saved to your account and follows you to other devices.
This is a for-fun tool. Results are random, so pair it with something else for decisions that matter.
