About this tool
Reaction time test measures, in milliseconds, how fast you click the instant the screen turns green. Clicking too early counts as a false start and is not recorded, and the tool tracks your best time and average across multiple attempts.
How to use
- Press the button to start โ the screen turns red and waits.
- The moment it turns green, click again as fast as you can.
- Your time in ms and a grade are shown.
- Try again to build up a best time and an average across attempts.
- Tap "Play with friends" to get an invite link โ the room shows a leaderboard of everyone's best time. The exact moment the screen turns green is measured independently for each person and is not shared, and setting a new record shows a celebration to the whole room.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the ms thresholds for each grade?
- Under 200ms is top-tier, 200-249ms is fast, 250-299ms is above average, 300-379ms is average, and 380ms or more is slow.
- What happens if I click before it turns green?
- It is marked as a false start and that attempt is not recorded. Press the button again to start over.
- Is the wait time always the same?
- No. It turns green after a random delay between 1.5 and 4 seconds, so you cannot predict the timing in advance.
- How many attempts count toward the best time and average?
- The best time and average come from your last 10 attempts. They survive a page refresh: stored in this browser when you are logged out, or in your account when logged in, so they follow you across devices.
- Can I compete with friends?
- Yes. Tap "Play with friends" to get an invite link โ whoever opens it joins the same room and you can compare best times on a leaderboard. The exact moment the screen turns green is not shared and is measured independently for each person (sharing it would defeat the measurement). Whoever sets a new record triggers a celebration for the whole room.
Real reaction time varies with screen refresh rate, input device (mouse vs. touchscreen), and browser rendering delay, so treat this as a rough estimate rather than a clinical reaction-time test.
