About this tool

This color palette extractor picks out the six most common colors in a photo and shows each as a hex code with its share of the image. It is a quick way to find colors for a logo or background straight from a picture, and the analysis runs entirely in your browser, so the photo is never sent to a server.

How to use

  1. Drag in or select the photo you want to sample colors from.
  2. Six dominant colors and their percentages appear automatically.
  3. Click a swatch to copy its hex code to the clipboard.
  4. Paste the copied code straight into a design tool or CSS.

Frequently asked questions

How many colors does it extract?
The six most common colors, ranked by how many pixels match them.
What happens when I click a color?
Its hex code (#rrggbb) is copied to your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere.
How accurate is the color extraction?
For speed, the image is shrunk down and similar colors are grouped together before counting, so this is not a precision color-measurement tool โ€” it is meant to quickly capture a photo's overall palette.
Is my photo sent to a server?
No. From the moment you select a photo to analyzing its colors, everything runs in your browser.
