About this tool
This color palette extractor picks out the six most common colors in a photo and shows each as a hex code with its share of the image. It is a quick way to find colors for a logo or background straight from a picture, and the analysis runs entirely in your browser, so the photo is never sent to a server.
How to use
- Drag in or select the photo you want to sample colors from.
- Six dominant colors and their percentages appear automatically.
- Click a swatch to copy its hex code to the clipboard.
- Paste the copied code straight into a design tool or CSS.
Frequently asked questions
- How many colors does it extract?
- The six most common colors, ranked by how many pixels match them.
- What happens when I click a color?
- Its hex code (#rrggbb) is copied to your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere.
- How accurate is the color extraction?
- For speed, the image is shrunk down and similar colors are grouped together before counting, so this is not a precision color-measurement tool โ it is meant to quickly capture a photo's overall palette.
- Is my photo sent to a server?
- No. From the moment you select a photo to analyzing its colors, everything runs in your browser.
