About this tool

This EXIF checker reads the shooting details baked into a photo (camera model, date taken, exposure settings) and GPS location, and can produce a copy with all of it removed. It works by reading the file directly in your browser, so the photo is never sent to a server.

How to use

  1. Drag in or select the photo you want to check.
  2. See whether it has GPS location data and what shooting details it carries.
  3. Review anything you would rather not share, such as location.
  4. Click "strip metadata" to save a copy with all of it removed.

How do I check whether my photo has GPS location in it?
When you upload a photo, any GPS coordinates are flagged in a bold red warning box. Photos taken on a phone with location services on often carry the exact latitude and longitude.
How do I remove the metadata?
Click "strip metadata" and the photo is redrawn onto a canvas and saved as a new JPEG. That process drops all EXIF data, including GPS, along the way.
What shooting details does it show?
Common EXIF tags: camera make and model, modify date, date taken, exposure time, F-number, ISO, and focal length.
Can I check PNG or WebP photos too?
The EXIF parser is built around the JPEG structure, so PNG and WebP files usually show no shooting details. That said, "strip metadata" works on any format since it always saves a fresh JPEG.
Is my photo saved on a server?
No. From the moment you select a file to reading its info, stripping it, and saving, everything happens in your browser.
