About this tool
A shopping list where you check off items as you put them in the cart. Open it and four sample items - milk, eggs, bread, apples - plus a budget of 50,000 won are already filled in, so you can see how it works right away; add a quantity and price to each item and the total updates automatically, with a comparison against your budget showing what is left and whether you have gone over. Checks, quantities and prices are saved the instant you change them, so they survive a refresh, and tapping "Play with friends" shares the same list with someone else in real time via an invite link. What you are typing in the input box, though, is not shared until it actually lands in the list.
How to use
- Four sample items and a 50,000 won budget are filled in when you open it - clear them and start fresh if you do not need them.
- Type an item and press Enter or the add button.
- Enter a budget to see the running total and remaining amount.
- Check off items as you shop, and edit quantity or price anytime.
- Clear checked items, or clear the whole list, when you are done.
- Tap "Play with friends" to get an invite link โ whoever opens it sees the same list, budget, and checked items update live. What you are typing in the box is not shared until it lands in the list.
Frequently asked questions
- Where is my shopping list saved?
- If you are logged out, it is saved only in this browser (localStorage). If you log in, it is saved to your account, encrypted, so you can pick it up on other devices too.
- Do I need to log in to use this?
- No. Every feature works without logging in. The list simply stays on this browser and device only.
- What happens to items with no price entered?
- Items with a blank price are excluded from the total, which is handy for listing something before you know its price.
- Can I use this with friends?
- Yes. Tap "Play with friends" to get an invite link โ whoever opens it joins the same room, and the list, budget, and checked items update live for everyone. What you are typing in the box is not shared until it is added or changed. Logging in also lets the same account pick up the list on other devices.
- Does my list survive a page refresh?
- Yes. Every change to an item or the budget is saved right away - to this browser when logged out, to your account when logged in - so refreshing or leaving and returning to the page keeps everything. Only text you are still typing into the input box, before it is added, is not saved and disappears on refresh.
- How does quantity affect the total?
- Each item contributes quantity times price to the total, and those are summed across the list. For instance an item priced at 3,000 won with a quantity of 2 adds 6,000 won to the total.
- How does it show that I have gone over budget?
- The remaining amount goes negative, an "Over budget" label appears in red, and the remaining figure itself turns red too. Leave the budget field blank and this comparison does not appear at all.
- How are checked items shown in the list?
- They get a strikethrough and appear dimmed, but they stay in the list rather than disappearing right away. Press "Clear checked" once you are done shopping to remove them for good.
