About this tool
Convert between a foreign currency amount and Korean won. This tool does not fetch a live exchange rate from a server โ it only ships with reference default values, and you enter the actual rate yourself. Pick a currency, enter today's rate, and editing either the foreign amount or the won amount instantly recalculates the other.
How to use
- Choose the currency to convert: USD, JPY, EUR, CNY, GBP, or VND.
- Look up today's rate at a bank or portal and enter it yourself (the default is only a reference).
- Enter whichever amount you know โ the foreign currency or the won amount.
- The other amount is calculated automatically.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the exchange rate update automatically?
- No. This calculator does not call a rate API โ it only preloads reference default values. To use it for a real conversion, look up today's rate in a banking app or a portal and enter it yourself.
- Why are JPY and VND shown per 100 units?
- The yen and dong are worth much less than the won per unit, so "1 JPY = ? KRW" would need too many decimal places. The rate field is set up for 100 JPY or 100 VND instead.
- Which field should I fill in โ foreign currency or won?
- Whichever one you know. The two fields are linked, so entering the foreign amount calculates the won amount, and entering the won amount calculates the foreign amount.
- Will I actually receive this exact amount when exchanging money?
- No. Banks and exchange counters apply fees and preferential rates on top of the base rate, so the amount you actually receive will differ from this result. Treat this tool as a rough estimate.
